About Issy
After graduating with a BA in Garment Technology, I began my MA in Fashion Design, where I was able to fully develop my passion for sustainable fashion and textiles. This led me to creating my brand, The Sewcial Edit. At TSE, I aim to help people develop their love for sustainable textiles techniques and recognise the meditative practice of crafting. I also hope to foster a sense of community in Digbeth for like minded crafty individuals.
My background combines fashion, textiles, and community engagement. I’ve led and participated in various workshops and collaborative projects, working with different groups to explore creativity through making.
These experiences have shaped my interest in using fashion not just as a product, but as a tool for connection, storytelling, and empowerment. They’ve also influenced the direction of my current project, which is very much rooted in people and shared experiences
My work is built around four key themes:
Sustainable craft
Community collaboration
Circular design
Heritage crafts
